Yes, slow and steady! That’s what’s helped me with my recent revisions. A month or two ago, it felt never-ending, but I kept at it, a little bit each day/week, and it’s actually starting to come together now!
I am nowhere near there yet but even at this early stage I am anxious about having to go through the mess I am creating 15 minutes at a time (thanks for the advice about your bit- by-bit approach, it really is keeping me on track).
I’m glad the bit-by-bit approach is working for you! When it comes to revision, try not to get too scared—it’s going to be messy, it’s going to be a process, but you can get through it. I would recommend doing whatever you can to break it down into smaller chunks of work, to feel less overwhelmed with the whole edit (this is why the Stoplight Method works for me, because I can just focus on a few things at a time and gradually work through everything). But for now, focus on getting the story out!
I'm in revisions and it is daunting. I try to do a little at a time so I don't get so overwhelmed. I tell myself, "slow and steady. Just don't stop"
