Yes all my books have gone through dozens of revisions. The first draft is always messy

I'm glad this article came my way today, I'd figured this out yesterday when I was writing, I knew it was going to be a mess and I needed to keep writing or else I'll get stuck in editing mode and not writing. Thanks for confirming 👍🏼

Learning to let my first draft be messy is one of the hardest things I’ve been learning to do. I still catch myself struggling to let it just exist and not go back to spend hours trying to fix it. I really appreciate this article for sharing that it’s okay and that writing is supposed to be a messy process. That’s how we make it work. 😊🤍

I’m glad this reminder was helpful! It’s so challenging to let it be messy, but it’s one of the best things we can do for our writing because that rawness can create magical moments on the page, when we don’t try to shape it into something it’s not ready to be. I’ve learned so much about my characters and the story when I let it be messy and keep moving forward, because once I’m at the end and editing, I discover so many gems or interesting angles that I wouldn’t have uncovered if I had spent ages going over and over one part.
